Ukrainian Demining Agency (UAD) LLC and the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at strengthening humanitarian demining work in the region. The document confirms the parties' intention to consolidate efforts to accelerate the clearance of territories that have been heavily mined as a result of hostilities.
As part of the partnership, UAR – one of the leading certified full-cycle humanitarian demining operators – will carry out non-technical and technical surveys, marking of hazardous areas and direct clearance of territories from mines and explosive remnants of war using robotic machines. Particular attention will be paid to agricultural lands, the return of which to safe use is a priority for the region.
"Our main goal is to minimize risks to the population and make the Kharkiv region safer. Cooperation with the regional military administration allows us to plan and carry out humanitarian demining work more effectively.
We strive to make agricultural lands safe for cultivation and help local communities resume agricultural activities faster. To date, our sappers are already working on demining 205.49 hectares of agricultural lands of the Husarivske agricultural cooperative, located in the Balakliya community in the Izyum district of the Kharkiv region.
"For us, every hectare is important, because it is not just land - it is an opportunity for local farmers to resume work and provide a stable income for communities," said Andriy Zolotko, Deputy General Director of Ukrainian Demining Agency LLC.
Thanks to the signed Memorandum, the parties are strengthening the coordination of actions within the national mine action system and creating additional opportunities for the restoration of deoccupied territories.
