Deminers of the Ukrainian Demining Agency LLC completed a complex of humanitarian demining works on agricultural lands of the Husarivske Agricultural Cooperative, located within the village of Husarivka, Balakliya community, Izyum district, Kharkiv region. The territory was significantly affected by hostilities, which made it impossible to use it safely for its intended purpose.
The work was carried out on behalf of the Mine Action Center in accordance with national standards in the field of mine action. During demining, our specialists used modern methods and technologies, in particular, clearing areas of combat operations with the involvement of specialized machines and mechanisms, as well as manual demining in difficult areas. Such a comprehensive approach allowed for a full technical survey of the territories, identification and removal of explosive objects remaining as a result of combat operations.
As a result of humanitarian demining, 205.49 hectares of agricultural land were cleared and transferred to the farm for safe use. The fact of completion of the work was officially confirmed by certificates from the Mine Action Center, which attest to the compliance of the cleared areas with established safety requirements.
According to the position of state authorities and international partners, humanitarian demining is one of the key elements of the reconstruction of war-affected regions. Official confirmation of land security is of fundamental importance, because only certified areas can be legally and risk-free engaged in economic activities. This guarantees the protection of the life and health of workers, minimizes risks for local communities and creates the prerequisites for sustainable economic development.
For the Gusarivske Joint Stock Company, each hectare of demined land is a critically important resource. The cleared areas allow for the safe conduct of a full cycle of field work – from the sowing campaign to harvesting, the cultivation of agricultural and fodder crops, and the stable operation of the livestock farm. Having its own feed base is the key to a continuous production process and economic sustainability of the enterprise.
The completion of humanitarian demining at the Husarivske mine site is an example of the practical implementation of the state policy on the restoration of safe land use. Each cleared hectare is a contribution to the food security not only of an individual farm, but also of the Kharkiv region as a whole, as well as an important step towards the restoration of Ukraine's agricultural potential.
